Rockmount Primary School recently hosted a vibrant STEM Fair, engaging both parents and children in hands-on activities that sparked curiosity and creativity. The STEM fair is a celebration of all things STEM – science, technology, engineering and maths
The event featured a variety of exciting challenges, including coding microbits, where students learned to code small devices for interactive projects. Children also had the opportunity to code a LEGO dancing robot, blending technology and fun. Other engaging activities included solving tangram puzzles, exploring the wonders of cornflour and participating in a bridge-building challenge using spaghetti and marshmallows, testing engineering skills and teamwork.
The fair was also an opportunity for the school to highlight its focus on encouraging women in STEM. As part of our broader initiative, special attention was given to inspiring girls by showcasing the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The event was a huge success, offering a fun and educational experience for all involved while reinforcing the importance of diversity and inclusion in STEM.
